Janenne Willis (she/her) is an artist and curator living on Bunurong and Boon Wurrung Country. She has made many multidisciplinary shows and installations, including her acclaimed body of work Swell. A 2024 highlight was offering the final part in a three part series Sea State at the Bombay Beach Biennale in California. Sea State is an imagining of radical empathy between bodies of water. Another recent highlight was presenting O_C_E_A_N as a keynote project in the inaugural DRIFT Arts Festival inviting audiences to feel the momentousness of the ocean through a large scale collection of progressive and contemporary art, story and spiritual practice.
Janenne’s work opened Melbourne Music Week’s tenth anniversary with a city streets takeover, has taken up residence in many unconventional places including the forts and tunnels at Point Nepean National Park and filled the remarkably restored Hotel Esplanade from top to bottom. A self taught artist and wildly travelled, she is a founding member of the Deep See Survey artist collective.
She has held many Board and Advisory Panel positions including Chair of Next Wave and Chair of Flinders Coastal Advisory Group. Janenne has held space for breakthrough conversation in hundreds of community, corporate and government contexts - combining the art of facilitation with her training as a breathwork teacher to cultivate powerful and authentic energy in any room. In addition to her art and facilitation practices, she has created numerous original and adventurous experiences for brands and community groups. Janenne holds bachelors and masters degrees and is a fellow of the Williamson Community Leadership Program.
Janenne’s work is centred around the evolution of human consciousness. She has dedicated much of her life to enabling the new and transformed. She is an ocean woman who writes, takes photos and lives in nature.
